HOW CAN WE DIFFERENCIATE BETWEEN MUSLIM, Irish CHRISTIAN, HINDU & JEWISH TERRORISTS

BY SIKANDER HAYAT

Two British army officers and a member of Northern Ireland police force have been murdered in cold blood by the Irish Republicans in last two days. An age old sectarian conflict between the Catholic and Protestant faiths is starting to simmer again due to these cowardly acts and I hope that it does not go any further for the sake of everyone who has a stake in peace and prosperity in Northern Ireland.

Also, today a suicide bomb has killed at least 15 people and injured many others in Sri Lanka. Tamils have taken responsibility for that atrocity.

Now all these three acts of terrorism have happened in last two days but none was committed by a Muslim. These were the evil deeds committed by Catholics and Hindus which goes to show that Islam does not have a monopoly on terrorism but other people have killed in the name of religion in the past and are still doing it.

I say these words without shirking from any blame that Muslims must face when they commit these heinous crimes because terrorism is a mindset, not a faith association. It can occur anywhere and among any people. We all know that Nazi Germany was a deeply Christian society and even current pope was a member of Hitler’s youth brigade. Germany of second world war killed millions of innocent women, children and anyone who did not fit her criterion of a perfect human being but even then we cannot tarnish the whole Christianity with the crimes of one people who happened to be of that faith.

Islam is fourteen hundred years old but open the books of history and you will find violence, wars, massacres, genocides in every age from the advent of human beings. Romans killed for empire, barbarians killed for gold, Christian Crusaders killed for Jerusalem & Heaven, Spanish conquistadors killed for spreading the word of God in Americas & beyond, Japanese killed for the Emperor, revolutionaries in France killed for equality, Catholics & Protestants killed each other in the European wars of religion and most recently hundreds massacred by the Israeli Jews in Gaza. I can go on and on about the most violent events in human history where Muslims were not involved in any way what so ever.

Lets face it, violence is as natural to human beings as breathing and to say that such a natural tendency is associated with only a certain religion is a fallacy of utmost proportions. Violence among humans cannot be stopped, it can only be contained and that containment can be achieved by a rule of law ( which eventually has to be enforced by violence) , equality to a certain extent and just distribution of resources.

Let’s stop pretending that terror is only a problem of one faith, lets fight together against all evil deeds not matter who is responsible. Islam, these days has more of this problem than others but it is not going to be the case forever.

India: The Terrorists Within

A day after major Indian cities were placed on high alert following blasts in the IT city of Bangalore, as many as 17 blasts ripped through Ahmedabad, capital of the affluent western Indian state of Gujarat . Some 30 people were killed, some at hospitals where bombs were timed to go off when the injured from other blasts were being brought in. (Later, in Surat, a center for the world's diamond industry, a bomb was defused near a hospital and two cars packed with explosives were found in in the city's outskirts.) Investigators pointed fingers at the usual Islamist suspects: Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT), Bangladesh- based Harkat-ul Jihadi Islami (HUJI) and the indigenous Students' Islamic Movement of India (SIMI). But even as the police searched for clues, the Ahmedabad attacks were owned up by a group calling itself the " Indian Mujahideen. " Several TV news stations received an email five minutes before the first blasts in Ahmedabad. The message repo
