Iran hopes relations with Pakistan will further develop with advent of new Govt

Iran has expressed the hope that bilateral relations with Pakistan in economic and other fields will be further strengthened with the advent of new democratic government in the country.


This was stated by Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Masha-Allah Shakiri while addressing a press conference here Saturday.

He said Pakistan and Iran are two brotherly Islamic countries and the bilateral ties will get further boost with the forthcoming visit of the Iranian President Dr. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad .

To a question, he said, his country's stand on nuclear program is based on principles and it is encouraging that Pakistan supports his country's policy on it.

About China's participation in Iran-Pakistan-India (IPI) gas pipeline, he said this project was started for three countries. All the three countries kept in view the economic, financial and technical aspects and if China was included the project would take a new shape.

He informed that his country has completed all the arrangements for starting Zahidan-Quetta bus service adding there is no delay on Iran's part in this regard.

Iranian President is scheduled to pay a short visit to Pakistan on April 28. During his visit trilateral cooperation between Pakistan, Iran and Afghanistan will also come under discussion for effecting durable peace and stability in the region, Iranian envoy said.

He said Iranian President will pay a short visit to Pakistan while on way to Sri-Lanka on official visit. A high powered delegation will also accompany the Iranian dignitary.

On this occasion bilateral relations will be discussed between Iranian President and Pakistani leaders.

Both sides will also exchange views on regional situation as well as challenges facing the Islamic world.

A press statement issued by the Iranian Embassy stated that "during official stop over of a few hours, the Iranian President will meet President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani."

These are the kind of circumstances when army need to show their resolve of not meddling in the political sphere of the country.
