
Brilliant performance by the two all-rounders- Razzaq & Rana Naved saw Pakistan beat World XI by 6 wickets. Rana Naved & Razzaq were befittingly declared the joint man of the match for brilliant half centuries.
Start of play saw Inzamam Ul Haq win the toss and elected to field, taking the due factor into consideration, especially with the reverse sing exponents in his bowling arsenal. ICL World got off to a confident start with the inform Murray Goodwin playing some delightful strokes to take the score to40 for no loss at the end of the 4th over. Goodwin was looking in great touch brining his fifty in the 7th over, laced with 8 fours and 1 six.
The 90 run partnership between the two openers was brought to an end by debutant Riaz Afridi in the 10th over, castling the dangerous Murray for a well made 52. The half way mark of the World innings had them well placed at 94/1. the crucial middle overs was turning out to be a fascinating contest between bat & ball with the World batsmen Martyn & Adams countering some brilliant reverse swing bowling from Afridi & Shahid Nazir.
The small battle between Nazir and Adams was won by Nazir castling him with a perfect reverse swinging yorker in the 13th over. The 15th over mark has the world side well placed for final onslaught a subsequent big total at 143/2. Martyn was playing the anchor sheath role well brining his fifty in 16th over. The stage in the death overs was set for the legendary Zulu who got into the act right away powering a lovely cameo off 24 runs off only 12 balls, before his was scalped by Rana Naved in the 17th over. The busy Nixon joined Martyn to power the World total to a healthy 188/3 in 20 overs.
The Pakistani reply got off to a blistering start racing to 25 in the second over, before Adams struck back for the World side castling the dangerous Nazir for 15, much to the disappointment of the vociferous crowd who had come to watch the talented Pakistani bat. Gillespie struck again scalping the big wicket of Farhat to reduce the Pakistani total at 38/2 in the 3rd over, putting the World side right on top.
The Loss of early wickets was not having any effect on the Pakistani batting approach with Rana Naved & Razzaq carrying out a complete carnage on the new ball bowlers, taking the score to 62/2 at the 5 over mark with more than 50 runs coming off boundaries. Both all rounders continued the attacking batting brining the fifty partnership off only 25 balls in only the 6th over.
The Pakistani hundred came about in only the 8th over with both batsmen looking in ominous touch. Razzaq brought his sixth ICL fifty off only 25 balls laced with 7 fours and 1 six in the 10th over. The half way mark of the Pakistani innings had them handsomely placed at 124/2, needing only 65 runs off 60 balls. A massive six over mid wicket brought Rana Naved’s fifty in the 12th over coming off only 23 balls laced with 7 fours and 1 six. It was a wonderful batting exhibition from both contemporaries matching each other stroke for stroke. The wonderful mammoth partnership worth 133 runs came to an end with Rana’s wicket, out for a brilliant innings of 74, coming off only 38 balls including 10 fours and 3 sixes. In the end a brilliant unbeaten knock of 73 runs by Abdul Razzaq powered the Pakistani side home to a robust win by 6 wickets.
