Mir Chakar Khan Rind - A Warrior Hero Of Baluchistan & Punjab Provinces of Pakistan

By Sikander Hayat

The areas comprising the state of Pakistan have a rich history and are steeped in the traditions of martial kind. Tribes which are the foundation stone of Pakistan come from all ethnic groups of Pakistan either they be Sindhi, Balochi, Pathan or Punjabi. One of these men of war & honour were Mir Chakar Khan Rind. He is probably the most famous leader coming out of Baloch ethnic group of Pakistan.
Mir Chakar Khan Rind or Chakar-i-Azam (1468 – 1565 ) was a Baloch king and ruler of Satghara in (Southern Pakistani Punjab) in the 15th century. He is considered a folk hero of the Baloch people and an important figure in the Baloch epic Hani and Sheh Mureed.

Mir Chakar lived in Sibi in the hills of Balochistan and became the head of Rind tribe at the age of 18 after the death of his father Mir Shahak Khan. Mir Chakar's kingdom was short lived because of a civil war between the Lashari and Rind tribes of Balochistan. Mir Chakar and Mir Gwaharam Khan Lashari, head of the Lashari tribe, went to war that resulted in thousands dead, including Mir Chakar's brother. For Balochis the sixteenth century was a very eventful period. They fought series of wars amongst themselves. These tribal conflicts not only caused large scale blood shed but also resulted in mass migrations to Punjab and Sindh. The war and the gallantry of the two tribe leaders continues to be a part of the Baloch peoples' history. After the "Thirty Years' War" against the Lashari Tribe, Mir Chakar left Balochistan and settled in the Punjab ( In modern day Pakistan) in 1518.

Mir Chakar Settled in Satghara ( a small town near the present day Okara District in Punjab Province of Pakistan) and gained power and respect in the area. He ruled this territory until he died in 1565. Afghan King Sher Shah Suri approached Mir Chakar to unite with him to consolidate his gains. Mir Chakar appreciated the offer but refused to help Sher Shah Suri and managed to elude Afghan armies. Under the command of his son, Mir Shahdad Khan, his forces instead joined the Mughal army of Emperor Humayun in 1555. Humayun was returning to the Indian Subcontinent after a long exile in Persia. Emperor Humayun came back, recaptured Delhi, and ousted the Suri dynasty in 1556. People who accompanied Mir Chakar to Satghara after leaving Balochistan constructed a tomb for his body.

The tomb was desecrated and its roof demolished by Maharaja Ranjit Singh who on his way to Multan had stayed in Satghara about 180 years ago.

Mir Chakar's tribe still live in southern Punjab to this day and speak the Seraiki language, they still exert considerable influence in the daily affairs of the district.

I have Family tree till our grand father Mir Jiand Khan but I've never found Baloch family tree beyond that. If you really have that, I think you would be doing a great favor to The Baloch by sharing it. Thanx

  12. Rind is not a Baloch tribe, they are Alafi who participated with Hazrat Hussain against Yazid forces later they fled to sindh and were given protection by Raja Dahir Hajaj bin yousuf asked Raja Dahir to return Alafis but refused and the reason Raja Dahir was attacked by mohammad bin qasim in this attack Alafis were with Raja Dahir against Arab invaders, Mir Jalal Khan was a Nahar baloch he made confederacy consisting of Rind tribe, Lashari Tribe, Hot Tribe, and Jatoi Tribe after his death, dissolved the confederacy but retained the baloch name to their original tribes. they were not brothers as fack history is written by some Balochs if you don`t believe, please study the book ,,The Baloch Rach,,,written by Longworth Dames

  13. Here come the history of rinds a much talked about family in baloch

    well,
in the olden arabian books will find the name of MAKRAN,there live those people who have migrated from halab now aplol syrai.pure rinds had slaves working for theri household choas and this family roots from ameer hamza (r.a) a well known islamic personality.
makran before now balochisan falls in subacontnent after the partiton makran became a part of pakistan now caleed balochistan.makran had its own destric before namely kich but now its changed into turbat.
makran has a close border with iran and that area is called mand.they are the purest rinds and with only a few family names which are catogorized as follows:-
    1st catogory :- sauzai-omerzai-ferozai-maulazai-gazkandi-kanki

    2nd catogory:- ghulam shaha zai-cahlak zai-gulabi zai-shalchai-mandish-meeranzai-mazarzai-shah-hoo-zai

3rd:- haiderzai-tahirzai-kolagi-askani-balochuk-thy are not originally from mand rather migrated from other parts of balochistan

    further more :-

there are afew balochs in dadar and sibi which are the parts of balochistan their family names and origins are well known by them.
in other parts of pakistan we do find baloch such as khusa-bhuti-zardari-mari-lagari-jamali.. they can be found in any parts of pakistan including balochistan.

    comming back to Rinds:-
well for your kind information those who are not rinds are well known as BAKAL or BANYA who are GAUR (S).

as for as MULLA FAZAL AND MULLA QASSIM ARE CONCERNED,, to be informed to all of u that they had No sons of their own ,, yes .. proven their fsamily tree expanded through one of their sisters which till date exits they are those who i have mentioned above migrated from appolo syrai to makran now balochistan...

from:- AHDMYM SONS OF MULLA FAZAL

  16. I am Jalbani Baloch and my tribe, which originates from Jalab Khan Rind, who was settled near Dear Ghazi Khan. The posterity of Jalab Rind is now known as Jalbani Baloch, who are settled mostly in Sindh, Punjab and pockets of Balochistan. Jalbanis in Sindh and Punjab generally speak Saraiki, Sindh and Balochi in Balochistan. If anyone has knowledge about the Jalab Rind and the family tree of Mir Chakar Khan Rind, please post it on this page.

India: The Terrorists Within

A day after major Indian cities were placed on high alert following blasts in the IT city of Bangalore, as many as 17 blasts ripped through Ahmedabad, capital of the affluent western Indian state of Gujarat . Some 30 people were killed, some at hospitals where bombs were timed to go off when the injured from other blasts were being brought in. (Later, in Surat, a center for the world's diamond industry, a bomb was defused near a hospital and two cars packed with explosives were found in in the city's outskirts.) Investigators pointed fingers at the usual Islamist suspects: Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT), Bangladesh- based Harkat-ul Jihadi Islami (HUJI) and the indigenous Students' Islamic Movement of India (SIMI). But even as the police searched for clues, the Ahmedabad attacks were owned up by a group calling itself the " Indian Mujahideen. " Several TV news stations received an email five minutes before the first blasts in Ahmedabad. The message repo
