Are Trump Tax Cuts Good For United States of America? Will The Tax Intake Increase?

By Sikander Hayat

Trumptax cuts may help big corporation but these won’t help lower and middle class Americans. One positive outcome could be that largecompanies which are hoarding money outside United States will hopefully declare their profits in US and will start paying their due share of corporate tax which has now come down to 20%.
Google,Amazon, Starbucks e.t.c. do not pay their fair share of tax anywherein the world. They make a lot of money around the world but concoct atax evasion system which is barely legal and yet does
not come out very well against any moral code. Apple has a sweatheart deal with Republic of Ireland where Apple pretends to pay tax and Irishgovernment pretends to collect tax. Irish tax rate is probably lowest among the OECD member states and is sucking a lot of good money from hard working people around the world. Compared to United Kingdom, UStax rate was really high but it is now at the same level at 20%.

Some of these mega corporations have more money than entire countries and therefore have power to change rules in their favour. They do this by giving huge donations to campaigns run by their preferred candidates. These candidates (we are not just talking about United States but all the major countries of the world) in return give assurances to their paymasters that nothing will be done contrary to the demands made by these corporations.

Mostbig corporations are multinationals and they threaten every country that they will move somewhere else if the taxation arrangements are not made according to their demands. In some very ominous cases, these corporations control print & electronic media and conspireto change public opinion against people who dare to challenge their hegemony. Instead of sovereign governments running the affairs of their countries, these unelected money men (most top CEOs are men) run the governments. They tell the governments when to go to war and against whom. It is now accepted that oil companies whose assets werenationalised in Iran and other countries in the world directly influenced US and other western governments to involve themselves inregime change.

Trump is also pushing his agenda as far as judicial branch of the government is concerned. He has so far appointed one supreme courtjustice and nine circuit court judges. Compared to Trump, Obama onlyappointed three circuit court judges by this time of his presidency.

It is safe to say that Trump is choosing judges who are conservativeleaning and have established record of decisions made in past which fit conservative agenda. It is important to understand that a lot of Trump agenda has the potential to end up in courts and the presence of Republican judges will help in countering any threats to Republican agenda. We saw this in practice when Trump tried to ban people from mostly Muslim majority countries from travelling to America. The first executive order was blocked right away by courts as anti constitutional and second once was allowed to remain but with lots of changes to the original order.

By far the biggest achievement so far by Trump is the passing of taxbill which will effect many future generations of America. There is a counter argument that this lowering of tax bill will result in lowerintake by US treasury which will result in even lower investment in United State’s crumbling infrastructure. Many of the roads, bridges, airports, public transport and other infrastructure is sub standard and crumbling. How the United States government intends to pay for all
this and any unforeseen disasters like Katrina hurricane where only entity with the power to help is government of United States government. With budget deficits rising and federal debt increasing every second, how is the united states government going to finance its operations.

Only time will tell if what is being enacted now will be fruitful for America with many companies relocating back to US soil and paying taxes or if the tax intake will go down even further.

India: The Terrorists Within

A day after major Indian cities were placed on high alert following blasts in the IT city of Bangalore, as many as 17 blasts ripped through Ahmedabad, capital of the affluent western Indian state of Gujarat . Some 30 people were killed, some at hospitals where bombs were timed to go off when the injured from other blasts were being brought in. (Later, in Surat, a center for the world's diamond industry, a bomb was defused near a hospital and two cars packed with explosives were found in in the city's outskirts.) Investigators pointed fingers at the usual Islamist suspects: Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT), Bangladesh- based Harkat-ul Jihadi Islami (HUJI) and the indigenous Students' Islamic Movement of India (SIMI). But even as the police searched for clues, the Ahmedabad attacks were owned up by a group calling itself the " Indian Mujahideen. " Several TV news stations received an email five minutes before the first blasts in Ahmedabad. The message repo...

Pakistan Army Must Not Intervene In The Current Crisis - Who To Blame For the Present Crisis in Pakistan ?

By Sikander Hayat Another day of agony and despair as Pakistanis live through a period of uncertainty but still I believe that army must not intervene in this crisis. These are the kind of circumstances when army need to show their resolve of not meddling in the political sphere of the country. No doubt that there will be people in the corridors of power and beyond who will be urging the army to step in and ‘save’ the country but let me tell you that country will only be saved if army stays away and let the politicians decide the future of the country, even if it means that there will be clashes on the streets of Islamabad. With free media in place, people are watching with open eyes the parts being played by each and every individual in this current saga. They know who is right and who is wrong and they will eventually decide who stays in power when the next general election comes. Who said that democracy was and orderly and pretty business ; it is anything but. Democracy ...
