Yanukovich was the loser 5 years ago in the “Orange Revolution” and now he is looking likely to win according to the polls in advance of a presidential election and drawing large crowds in all parts of Ukraine. He has talked about a lifeless economy and the Western friendly Orange leaders who are fighting each other. Five years ago these leaders were put in power by a massive campaign funded by the West. He has asked Ukrainians whether the Ukraine is in a better shape than it was 5 years ago. Corruption is still there, mismanagement and bad governance have taken roots. People are disillusioned with the current set up. In recent weeks, polls have shown Yanukovich leading by 10 or 15 percentage points but due to ethnic differences in the Russian and Ukrainian speaking parts of Ukraine, it is not possible to predict the outcome completely. By Sikander Hayat Muhammad Aamer dropped not only a catch but with it a match as well. Muhammad Aamer dropped Ricky Ponting at the start of his innings and he went on to score a double hundred. I said earlier as well that Pakistan can never be a good test team or for that matter a good cricket team until it holds all of its catches. A bad piece of ground fielding here and there is forgivable but not a dropped catch. When Aamer dropped the catch, Muhammad Asif the bowler was a sight to behold. By Sikander Hayat There are unconfirmed reports that Hakimullah Mehsud, who is the leader of the Pakistani Taliban and got the leadership after the death of Baitullah Mehsud, has been killed in a drone attack. His organisation has denied these reports but there are strong indications that he is actually dead. US have been hunting actively after the attack on CIA base in Afghanistan in which a Jordanian Al Qaida operative killed 7 CIA men in a suicide attack. Few days later Hakimullah Mehsud appeared in a video with the alleged bomber and took responsibility for the attack. From that day it was a matter of time before Americans would kill him and today they might have achieved their purpose. Reports are still unconfirmed but if they are confirmed then there will be a need for a new TTP (Tehreek e Taliban Pakistan) leader. For that we have to look at a little bit of history as well. At the time of separation of Bangladesh from Pakistan, India was the biggest friend of this country. But when General Zia took over in Bangladesh after the murder of Sheikh Mujeeb, relations between India and Bangladesh got a bit soured. Even today there are two camps in Bangladesh; these two camps are based around the descendants of Zia Ur Rehman & Mujeeb Ur Rehman. By Sikander Hayat I am writing the following lines to refute the biggest fallacy associated with Pakistan Army that it is actually a Punjabi Army which takes care of the interests of the Punjab and does not take care of the other federating units. It is outright false and wrong to say such a thing because from the time of Pakistani independence 14 Generals have commanded Pakistan Army. Out of these 14 Generals 2 were British , 4 were Pakhtun, 1 was Hazara, 1 was Baloch, 1 was a Rajput, 3 were Mohajir and 2 were Punjabi. In 64 years after independence, Pakistan has been ruled by 4 Generals for 32 years. These Generals are General Ayub Khan (9 years), General Yahya Khan (3 years), General Zia Ul Haq (11 years) and General Pervez Musharaf (9 years). Not a single one of these Generals was a Punjabi.
