Khalistan Movement - The Past & Current Situation

The Khalistan movement is a political secessionist movement which seeks to create a separate Sikh country , called Khalistan in the state of Punjab currently under Indian rule . The Punjab region has been the traditional homeland of the Sikhs. Before its conquest by the British it had been ruled by the Sikhs for 82 years, the Sikhs ruled over the entire Punjab from 1767 to 1799, till their confederacy was unified into the Sikh Empire by Maharajah Ranjeet Singh . However, the region also has a substantial number of Hindus and Muslims. Following India's independence in 1947, The Punjabi Suba Movement led by the Akali Dal aimed at creation of a Punjabi-majority state (Suba) in the Punjab region of India in the 1950s. Concerned that creating a Punjabi-majority state would effectively mean creating a Sikh-majority state , the Indian government initially rejected the demand. After a series of protests, violent clampdowns on the Sikhs, and the Indo-Pak war of 1965 the Government

Are You A Real Muslim? Pakistan's Quest For True Muslims

By Sikander Hayat A battle to find an ever purer form of Islam is being fought in Pakistan . There were different stages to this battle: We separated Pakistan between Muslims & non Muslims We started on a path to find good Muslims and bad Muslims   After finding the good Muslims, we separated them on the basis of sects with Sunni Islam coming out on top. We then began a journey to find the real Sunni Muslims and further sub sects. This is the problem of Pakistan. Ever decreasing circles of Islam in which people are continuously being excluded from the category of Muslim and into an ever increasing circle of kafirs. All those who are declared kafir by one sect are the good Muslims of the other sect. All those declared kafirs are liable to be killed by good Muslims. So who decides about other people’s faith. Who decides if someone is a good Muslim or a Kafir . Who decides if one should be killed for being a bad Muslim. Pakistan was once a majority Muslim

Who Is Fuelling Shia Sunni Violence In Pakistan?

By Sikander Hayat Pakistan is on a dangerous path as more people have died today in Kohat in Shia Sunni violence. Pakistan is in a danger of becoming a battlefield between Shia & Sunni after Iraq & Syria. Who is behind this sudden violence, I do not know but I do know that people of Pakistan do not deserve this. Pakistan is fighting so many battles at the same time with Indian fueled terror in Balochistan & Waziristan and Mafia killings in Lyari. Pakistanis are ripped apart from inside and outside by friends and enemies in the form of friends. The proxy battle that Saudi Arabia & Iran have waged in Pakistan for last 30 years has now become a full blown battle. Pakistan’s rulers need to use iron fist to quell this monster because if the things get out of hand and then Syria / Iraq will look timid in comparison. Home

Shia Kill Seven Sunni Students In Rawalpindi, Pakistan

By Sikander Hayat Shias have killed seven sunnis in Rawalpindi , Pakistan for shouting abuse at their procession. A sunni mosque was burnt and students were dragged on the street before being killed by Shia mob. It seems as if this time shias have crossed a fine line in a country like Pakistan where religious tolerance is at historic ebb . Country is full of religious preachers who have livelihoods depending on spreading the message of hate. Shias are a minority in Pakistan and often on the receiving end of violence but this case will exacerbate the situation and there is a possibility that if matter is not dealt carefully by the federal government, things can get out of hand. Already there are reports of disturbances in other parts of the country. Why kill people for just calling you names. Is human life that cheap that you can take it because your Gods are above everything else. No god is above human life and people in Pakistan must understand this fact before anything can

Mirpur - A City In The Pakistani Province Of Azad Kashmir

Mirpur is an important city in the Pakistani province of Azad Kashmir . It is most famous for its émigré community which has mostly emigrated to United Kingdom & to some extent to Norway . Mirpur, Azad Kashmir has strong ties with various cities in UK, especially Bradford in Yorkshire County . Initially emigrants from Mirpur were not very well educated but new emigrants mostly have high school diplomas and a sizable percentage has a university degree. Mirpur diaspora has kept strong links with the home country of Azad Kashmir in Pakistan and due to their extreme lobbying; Pakistani government is now building an international airport in Mirpur. Once this airport is complete, the connection between the current generation of diaspora Mirpuris and the homeland of their forefathers will become even stronger. This will also encourage cultural exchange and improve bilateral understanding. Mirpur is known for its grand buildings and large bungalow-houses. The production of elec

Great Britain & European Union – Do You Want Britain To Be Part of The EU?

By Sikander Hayat Britain has always defined itself as the “other” in Europe . Throughout its history, it has feared and guarded against an invasion from the mainland Europe . It has fought for influence with its neighbours in the other parts of the world.  It is too much to ask that just after 60 years of peace that the country changes its mindset completely. Constant Europe bashing by the British press does not help either. Every single day, newspapers are full of stories on how “idiots” in Brussels have come up with some ridiculous rule. You will have to work really hard to find any positive news about Britain’s association with Europe . I personally believe that both sides of the argument are overstating their case. There are good arguments on both sides and if the country decided to go one way or the other, it will do well. Following are the reasons why Britain can easily hold its own outside of the EU: With current growth rates, Britain is going to become the largest
